"No equivalent exchange here"

Films: Vidocq (2001)

Alias: Eienne Boiset

Type: Mystical

Location: Haunted home/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: Alchemy. You either think it's too confusing to comprehend, or you see it as the ultimate marriage of science and magic. Well, the sad thing is that across cultures, it seems that immortality is at the top of everyone's priority list. And in this alchemist's case, he'd do ANYTHING for it.

History: Etienne Boisset was a famed alchemist feared for his talent. Many would come to him to find the secret of immortality, but he would demand maidens for experimentation in exchange. As it turns out, the maidens' blood was needed to create a golden mirror mask that could suck the souls out of people. Boisset made sure to go out in public as a journalist to destroy any evidence of his evil plans. And it seemed like he had it in the bag when he disposed of investigator Vidocq...or did he?

Notable Kills:Absorbs and reflects bullets fired at his face into a guy.

Final Fate: After Vidocq returns, the man manages to lead the Alchemist into a room full of mirrors, and beats him up so that the intensity of so many reflections causes his mask to release all of the collected souls, depowering him so that he gets thrown into a river. But there's no body, and who knows? He could still be out there, albeit having to start from scratch.

Powers/Abilities: The Alchemist is exceptionally proficient in close-combat, and his mask enables him to suck out souls and deflect attacks, as well as have access to other magic.

Weakness: Too many mirrors around him will cause his mask to stop functioning properly, leaving him vulnerable.

Scariness Factor: 4-Imagine a person who not only can wipe the floor with anyone in a fight, but can use magic to make the odds somehow even more unfair. That, and this guy has a rather creepy look. How anyone managed to defeat him can best be described as miraculous at best.

Trivia: -The Alchemist was played by Guillaume Canet, who would eventually move away from acting and pursue equally successful directing jobs.

-This was the first film to be made with Sony digital 1080p 24 fps cameras.
